Winter is back

wow... we had about 20 degrees in the sun yesterday.. everyone was wearing shorts... the aussies of course their thongs and t-shirts and we were sitting out in the sun... and check this out now!! that foto I took about 1/2 hour ago in front of the hostel... unbelievable!!!

WINTER IS BACK!! I love it!!!

and it is still snowing...... I will show you tomorrow what happened up here in the mountains...

Family Ski Holiday

my parents and uncle and aunty came to visit for a couple of days! they went skiing everyday and enjoyed the early spring in the mountains! unfortunately the snow is getting less and less but at least they could enjoy the sun! although the slopes are under great condition still up on top of the mountains there is not enough snow anymore to ski down into the valley!!

I went skiing with them on the weekend and we had lovely dinners in the local restaurants and of course... you know my family... some nice glasses of wine and beer before we went to bed... hmmmmm.. unfortunately I got ill on Monday so they had to enjoy the rest of their holiday by themselves.. I was in bed with fever and watching DVDs...

Zell am See on the 7th of March

SPRING SPRING SPRING... check this out... on the 7th of March, in the middle of the Austrian Alps... and Kerstin is not even wearing a jumper!! it was about 15 degrees and we enjoyed the sun with a nice "Viennes Melange" and cake.. yummy!!!!

Zell am See is about 40 minutes away by car and it is cute!!

Innsbruck in "Spring"

Iris and me went to see Verena in Innsbruck and had a great weekend! this time I decided to take the train because the road from Bad Gastein to Innsbruck is going straight throught the Alps and it is not so much fun to drive.. so I took the comfy train and got to Innsbruck in only 3 hours.. totally relaxed... so nice!!

in Innsbruck we went to see the Svarovski museum in Wattens which is only 20 minutes by car away. it was quite takky but since all tourists are going there we decided we had to see it too once!! the weather was total-spring although it was beginning of March.. unbelievable... we had a great time chatting and just being girls!! ;)

Contest Weekend

Bad Gastein is not as borring as I thought ;).. this one weekend there were 2 contests happening in town. on friday night there was a Slope Style Contest going on for skiiers and snowboarders and people from all over the world took part in it! there was a live-band and a great atmosphere on the slope just across the road from the hostel!

and on saturday the CRAZY Red Bull Playstreets was happening in the center of Bad Gastein! hey, you know that Bad Gastein is built on rocks and it is super steap everywhere you go.. so Red Bull took advantage of that and built kickers and bridges across some roads and let the craziest skiiers in the world fly down the center of Bad Gastein, in between buildings and they even slided along a roof-top!! brilliant to watch!! I wished there had been a bit more publicity for it!! hope they do that every year from now on!!

on the last foto you can see Candice with the winner of the contest.. since they are both French Canadian she had to walk up to him and shake hands... I just thought.. man he's soooo young... and found out that all the participants were inbetween 14 and 16 years old... pooooohh..

First Farewell and Injuries over Injuries

well.. the season is coming to an end slowly.. we already had to say good-bye to the first ones. Pal went back to Norway because he got a great job offered in Oslo! WE MISS HIM!!! and last week our gringo Dan went back to Gringo-Land to earn some money.. about time.. after a whole season of being a ski-bum ;) oh.. and I haven't mentiones aaaaall the injuries that we had this season. I have been to the hospital more often than I had ever been before in my whole life! Poor kids... they just can't handle the snow as we Austrians can.. ;)

Visitors

Wolfi and Iris came to visit a looooong time ago but I just haven't managed to upload this post... but here it is... we had a great day of skiing and then a lovely night at the Bellevue-Alm where we came down on tobbogans again..sweet!! I think I could open someone's heart for Bad Gastein.. it was great fun!!!
